The clay perched on the sculpting stand, nervous, trying to explain to the art critique, Lisa Crawford, how I use the Subtractionist method to sculpt.  I stood up and studied the clay, touched it with my fingers, found the shapes and then I said to her, “I just found them, let me see if I can let them out.”  I worked quickly, first the shoulder then they emerged relished from the clay.  I found my voice and continued the interview.
